When you do comparisson, you have to compare right things, not the wrong things. This is not only about the right values, but also about taking the right data. If you would like to compare "AfterLife Rated" experience and default era experience between versions, then
in the AfterLife Rated experince you could get 8 new units, 2 of them are recruitable
in the Default era experince you could get 3 new units, 0 of them are recruitable

But if you insists on mainline, here are some facts:
mainline received about 29 new units. Some of them are not in use in 1.18 out-of-the-box Wesnoth. It is indistinguishable from "they do not exist", you couldn't actually face them in the out-of-the-box game experience.

Some links:
mainline:

https://units.wesnoth.org/1.18/mainline ... nline.html

default era:
https://units.wesnoth.org/1.16/mainline ... fault.html
https://units.wesnoth.org/1.18/mainline ... fault.html

AfterLife era:

If you would like to have a proper comparison - here is an example:
Wesnoth Matchmaking Discord Server has about 280 participants including bots and double+ accounts.
UMC Guild Discord Server has about 152 participants including bots and double+ accounts.
280 is about twice more than 152, so it is "more global", while you were definitely using UMC Guild in your research.

Using your own words, "then I guess you went catatonic" reading this. Still you claimed "igorbat - seems to be much less active in global community", while you actually haven't properly checked a global community -- obviously official discord server + forum + wesnoth/wesnoth github are not enough.
So you were basically caught red-handed multiple times making wrong statements or statements you couldn't vouch for.

P.S.
As it comes to the global russian-speaking community ( I get it from Polish perspective - your language is not popular, but Russian is actually in the top-10 of the most popular languages in the world. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Second_language ), WesnothLife was a global wesnoth-related community since its early years. It had active players from USA, UK and Finnland those days. These days it is even more diverse - in top10 by tournament rating there is only one person who lives in Russia and only 4 are russian-speaking. https://tour.wesnothlife.ru/rating_elo.php
